DANGER ! : BEES ARE DYING

Beekeepers lost more than 40% of their honeybee colonies last year in the USA. Several species of bees were also put on the Endangered Species List for the first time ever this year.  A condition called Colony Collapse Disorder is claiming the lives of our precious bees.  This condition is being linked, increasingly, toxic pesticides and to the contamination of honey with high fructose corn syrup - which destroys theimmune system of the bees.  Please contact us to find out how you can help right now.

Factory Farms

There are over 900 animal feeding operations on Virginia's Eastern Shore.  Over 100 of these are Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs).  The operations on the entire Eastern Shore, alone, produced over a billion pounds of manure in 2012.

There are many pesticides which scientists are finding detrimental to human and animal health.  Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup was declared a probable carcinogen by the World Health Organization last year.  And bee die-off has been linked to a class of pesticedes called neonicitinoids. We need help to make sure that our environment is safe for all.

Consumers have the right to know what they are eating through clearly defined content listings on packaging.  They also have the right to know how their taxpayer money is being spent by federal organizations that use tax-payer dollars to advertise for the food industry.  Help us preserve and expand our rights to protect consumer health.  The passage of the DARK ACT earlier this year means that Vermon'ts first-in-the-nation labeling law was thwarted.  We need help to protect our right to know what is in our food.

ARFEP is a small group of people trying to make a difference in Arlington, VA  and beyond on environmental issues that concern us all.  Please consider contributing so that we can incorporate as a 501(c)4.  Thank you!
